Have we found a sustainable way to make nitrate from air?
Researchers have developed a new way to produce nitrate, a key ingredient in fertilisers, using electricity instead of fossil fuels. This electrochemical process could significantly reduce the energy consumption and environmental impact of traditional fertiliser production using the Haber process. Use this story and the accompanying summary slide for a real-world context when studying the Haber process and fertilisers with your 14–16 learners.
