Led by experienced trainer Dave Waistnidge, this session will look at identifying the preconceptions that pupils bring to lessons as well as challenging misconceptions and ensuring that concepts are fully understood.

This session is the first in a series covering the effective, evidence-based principles of the EEF Improving secondary science guidance which were also featured in the EiC series 7 simple rules for science teaching. The sessions are aimed at NQTs and probationers but open to all. Each session will be run by a different experienced teacherr or trainer from the South West of England and the Channel Islands. The session leaders will share examples of good practice and what works for them in the classroom.
