Thursday 3 October, 7–8pm BST, online

The Royal Society of Chemistry is hosting a series of events to support new teachers in their science education journey. These events are primarily aimed at secondary school teachers with less than five years of experience. However, those who would like a refresher on what Science and Plants for Schools (SAPS) offers, or those unfamiliar with SAPS, are also welcome. As spaces are limited, early registration is advised. Attendees have the flexibility to book all sessions or only those that meet their needs.

SAPS provides opportunities for teachers (including trainee teachers) and technicians to find out more about plants and plant science. They have over 300 resources for use with teaching students aged 11-18 that are freely available and developed with experienced teachers and curriculum developers.

Session outcomes

By the end of this session, you  will:

  • know where to go for help and support for teaching biology using plants
  •  have explored resources developed for teaching key principles of biology

Session information

This session will be faciliateatd by Alex Jenkin, Project Manager for SAPS. In this session you will explore core principles of biology using key plant practicals guaranteed to inspire you and your students. We’ll also provide ideas to help you include plants across all your biology teaching. Join us to grow your confidence in teaching with plants.
