Equilibria (pre-16)

Learning objectives

Participants will learn about:

  • the sequence of key ideas that students need in order to understand equilibria
  • the common misconceptions and challenges that students experience with equilibria
  • the strengths and limitations of models used to teach the concept of equilibria
  • a range of classroom activities to support effective learning about chemical equilibria

Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • apply pedagogical content knowledge of equilibria in the classroom
  • identify common misconceptions related to equilibria and use knowledge to address them
  • evaluate a range of models used to teach key concepts in equilibria
  • plan to use practical activities to help explain the concept of equilibrium
