Eight sessions October 2021 – June 2022, online

This live online eight-part professional development (PD) course provides an opportunity for teachers to explore effective strategies for teaching chemistry across the 11–16 age range. We will explore how to teach key topics in chemistry and pilot a number of ways to support the development of practical work including:

  • teacher development videos
  • carrying out practicals in your own school during the session
  • carrying out practicals in your own school prior to the session
  • existing student videos

Built in to each session, there will be time to discuss up and coming teaching topics as well as an opportunity to ask general questions.

The live online course is most suited to teachers who may be:

  • relatively new in post
  • teaching chemistry outside their own subject specialism
  • keen to increase their own understanding of, and confidence to teach chemistry within a 11–16 secondary science programme
