Resource to help students develop their problem solving skills in quantitative chemistry
The Royal Society of Chemistry’s problem solving tutor is a new resource designed to help students develop their problem solving skills in quantitative chemistry. Working through the tutor allows them to use three specific techniques for problem solving:
- Knowing what you know and what you don’t know – helps to model the processes that go on in the brain
- Tabulating information – an important skill that helps students to solve complex problems
- Storyboarding – a method of making complex experimental descriptions clear
The tool is an interactive drag and drop design. Students use the information presented in the question to complete and submit their answers. Worksheets are also available to download for teachers to print and use in the classroom.
