The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is inviting members (and non-member school teachers) to apply to its Research Fund for grants of up to £2000 to assist, for example, in the purchase of chemicals or equipment, or for the running expenses of chemical education research. Members or school teachers working in a higher education institution, college or school anywhere in the world will be considered on merit, but account will be taken of any other source of financial aid available to applicants.

Applicants who are working in less well-endowed institutions, supporting their own research, or able to cite collaborative research projects with institutions in countries other than their own, will be given preference. Those working in chemical education as well as in chemistry research are encouraged to apply for grants and inventive applications will be given special consideration. Additional funds for 2009 are available to support those working in developing countries and those engaged in analytical work.

Applications are limited to one per department and must be submitted through the head of department before 31 October 2008
