Highlighting to the public the important role the chemical sciences and the work of chemists play in our everyday lives
In an effort to highlight to the public the important role the chemical sciences and the work of chemists play in our everyday lives, the Royal Society of Chemistry's (RSC) Chemistry Week 2007 focused on the impact the chemical sciences has had, and can have, on the way we travel. Linked to current RSC campaign - Fuelling the future - many of the week's outreach activities showed how the chemical sciences offer positive solutions to the energy challenges facing travel and transport, both now and in the future.
Launched by the Science Minister, Ian Pearson MP at an event held in the House of Commons, Westminster, in November, Chemistry Week is organised by the RSC's network of 35 local sections located throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Read on for a whistle-stop tour of the week's events.
