Hosted on the Royal Society of Chemistry's (RSC) website, the Maths Resource Database details a wide range of maths resources for higher education students - books, software and online resources. The result of an extensive survey of the available maths resources for scientists done by the RSC and the Higher Education Academy (HEA) Physical Sciences Centre, the list includes a short summary for each entry and a weblink for further information. Free to download as a pdf, the list is by no means definitive and will continue to be updated as new maths resources become available. Users are invited to add details of useful resources to the database by contacting the RSC education department.

Assessment for learning

This site, produced by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), aims to support teachers who want to develop their use of assessment for learning to involve students in their learning of chemistry. The site offers descriptions of the seven principles of assessment for learning: working in groups, self-assessment, peer-assessment, sharing objectives, questioning, using feedback, and using tests. There are session plans for 72 activities covering a range of chemical concepts relevant to chemistry taught at Key Stage 3, 4 and post-16. Each session plan includes suggestions on how to organise activities and worksheets to download and use with students. The activities can be searched by age group or by related assessment for learning principles.
