Meet the Universities (MTU) will be held at Salters' Hall in London on Saturday 2 July 2011. This event brings together students who are considering a degree in chemistry with university representatives from across the UK.
Run by ChemNet, the Royal Society of Chemistry's network for 16-18 year olds, this enormously popular event gives students the opportunity to talk directly with the universities admissions teams, staff members and students to find out about the courses they offer and what life as an undergraduate is really like.
This annual event has been tremendously successful in previous years with many positive comments from students such as: 'really excellent event, much preferable to visiting hundreds of departments nationwide' (visitor 2009) and 'exceptionally outstanding event [with] brilliant advice given' (visitor 2010).
The event is open to all chemistry students, their teachers and parents. Admission for ChemNet members is free. For all other students the entrance fee is just £15 and includes ChemNet membership for one year. Registration in advance is required in order to secure a place.
To help promote this event to students and encourage them to think about their next steps, a poster is included in the schools edition of this issue of Education in Chemistry.
