Nominations open for the 2023 RSC Education prizes
Who would you like recognised for their contribution to science education?
The Excellence in Education Prizes and Horizon Prizes recognise achievements in primary science through to higher chemistry education. You can nominate an individual, team or collaboration, including teachers, technicians, teaching assistants, professors and education researchers. You can also self-nominate for a team prize. If you are not currently working in science education, don’t worry, you can still nominate.

Education prizes: celebrating collaborative ways of working in chemistry education
Tuesday 25 April, 4–5pm (BST), online
How can partnership enhance your teaching and improve your students’ experiences? Join our free live session to see ‘spotlight’ case studies and hear a panel discussion from some of the 2022 RSC Education prize winners. Part of our teacher support sessions timetable, the free session will share ideas and resources that will be useful for teachers across primary, secondary and higher education.
Volunteering opportunity: Find Your Element pilot
Share your experience at a school or university workshop
We are looking for volunteers from our membership community to help with Find Your Element – an exciting new pilot initiative for secondary schools. We will be running workshops in collaboration with our delivery partner, The Talent Foundry Trust, for learners aged 11–13. They will take place at schools in your local area, at Lancaster University and at the University of Sheffield.
You don’t need any experience of working with young people, or prior knowledge about the workshop itself. We simply need the help of science professionals, in having conversations with the students about your experience in the chemical sciences, and showing what a career in science has to offer.
Quiz your year 10 learners with the National Scientific Thinking Challenge
This national data interpretation quiz runs in the last week of April. It doesn’t rely on recall of taught material – instead, your students will be challenged to look at data, graphs and text and make deductions, spot trends, suggest hypotheses and identify anomalous results.
The challenge is free to enter, takes place online and is designed to fit into one science lesson. And once the results are in, you can print certificates for your students.
