Help students visualise the structure of the Earth and boost their confidence with plotting information on scales

When learning about earth science, one key point students need to know is that the Earth is almost a sphere and made of three main layers: the crust, the mantle and the core. However, the relative thickness of each of the Earth’s layers can be difficult to visualise from the numbers alone. To address this, use this downloadable worksheet to help students visualise the structure of the Earth and its atmosphere, as well as boost their confidence with plotting information on scales. Students are given measurements of the various segments of the Earth’s structure and provided with a scale diagram on which to plot them.
