Guidance, including a skills template and worked example, to support teachers with curriculum planning and progression within the Science and Technology Area of Learning and Expertise from Curriculum for Wales, progression step 4.

Support for teachers with curriculum planning and progression within the Science and Technology Area of Learning and Expertise from Curriculum for Wales (progression step 4) from September 2022. Three documents are offered:

  • Chemistry in Curriculum for Wales: curriculum planning support (progression step 4)’ connects the What Matters statements in the Curriculum for Wales with the Royal Society of Chemistry’s curriculum framework, providing further guidance for teachers.
  • How to use the curriculum planning support document’ provides a more detailed explanation of how the curriculum planning support document can be put into practice in a local relevant context of their choice. 
  • The chemistry skills template summarises the skills developed during progression step 4, giving an idea of the appropriate level of challenge for a learner at this stage.
