The composition and formula of water

Determine the formula of water through the reaction of copper(II) oxide with hydrogen and develop learners’ mole calculation skills with this demonstration and follow-up questions
Use this classroom demonstration to help 14–16 learners explain how water is formed during the redox reaction of copper oxide with hydrogen. Then, develop their observational skills, numeracy skills and knowledge of mole calculations with the follow-up questions. A ready-to-go practical lesson with classroom slides, scaffolded and unscaffolded student worksheets and teacher guidance, including full technical notes and answers to all questions.
