Teaching empowerment funds – applications now open

Apply by 28 March for up to £600 towards a project or event in your local area.

If you’re passionate about strengthening the quality of primary science or secondary chemistry teaching in your local area then we want to help. Organise a collaborative project or event with the guidance of your local education coordinator and you could be eligible for up to £600 towards costs from our teaching empowerment funds.

Your project should aim to improve the quality of teaching and/or foster supportive and effective teaching communities. To find out more browse the appropriate fund’s dedicated website.

From now until the end of March, you can attend a large range of sessions that support practical chemistry teaching. Each session comes in two formats to fit neatly into your schedule: a quick 30-minute lunchtime presentation and an hour-long interactive version (4.00–5.00pm).

The 2022 EiC prize quiz is here

Education in Chemistry is running a five-round quiz throughout 2022, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs (including a visualiser and RSC Education goodies). To be in with a chance of winning, take part in each round. You'll find the questions in the EiC print issues – get a free print subscription when you sign up for a free Teach Chemistry membership.

Challenge your students with the Schools’ Analyst Competition

The Schools’ Analyst Competition is back for 2022, with teams tasked to find the perfect formula for fish and chips! Apply now for the chance to receive one of 300 kits to be sent to schools across the UK and Ireland.

The competition kits provide everything that’s needed for ten teams of three students. Teams must compete to solve practical problems and tackle tough analytical questions – and the winning team from each school will be entered into a second round, with a chance to be crowned regional champions. The competition takes place in your own school, with flexible sessions that can be scheduled around your timetable.
