What would you like to see from future online sessions?
This term, we’ve put on over 100 online sessions and a virtual conference to support technicians and teachers through the lockdown. Now, we’d like to hear what you thought of them, and how you would like our support to continue during the next school year.
We will use your feedback to focus our efforts on areas that you will find the most useful. The survey closes today (14 July).
Building a better chemistry culture: tackling isolation
Thursday 16 July, 3.30–4.30pm
The third webinar in our Building a better chemistry culture series will focus on isolation and loneliness.
Speakers Desiree Dickerson and Mita Dasog will look beyond Covid-19 lockdowns to explore why someone in the chemical sciences may feel isolated, and how building meaningful connections can help to create a sense of belonging.
BSL interpretation will be provided during the live webinar by Rachael Dance, Cambridgeshire Deaf Association.
Good teaching habits include making time for you
Preparing for the new school year while the pandemic is still with us means dealing with a lot of unknowns. But as this Education in Chemistry article explores, one of the best ways to prepare over the holidays is by taking time to focus on your own mental health and resilience.
Get a new qualification over the holidays
Becoming registered or chartered is an excellent way to show your expertise and support your ongoing professional development. Through the Royal Society of Chemistry, you can work towards qualifications including Chartered Chemist (CChem), Chartered Science Teacher (CSciTeach) and Registered Science Technician (RSciTech).
Use your experience to guide new graduates
If you are a Royal Society of Chemistry member and interested in sharing your career experiences with final year student members, get in touch to find out more about becoming one of our graduate guides. As well as providing inspiration and support to a new grad, it will:
- Reinforce your own skills and knowledge
- Enhance your CV
- Help you gain recognition which could contribute to future professional awards
It’s also a great way to build knowledge and experience that could lead to you becoming a full RSC mentor.
