Who are the 2021 Education Prize winners?

Join the celebrations and champion excellence in chemistry education.

In a year like no other, some of the most important contributions have been made by educators like you, continuing to nurture and inspire the next generation of talent. This year's Education prizes recognise inspirational, innovative, and dedicated people who have made outstanding contributions to primary, secondary, further education and higher education.

On 23 November, we announced this year’s winners – perhaps someone you know has been recognised?

MEET THE WINNERS

A sustainable chemistry curriculum for a sustainable planet

We asked young people and educators about their views on sustainability and climate change within the chemistry curriculum, and we shared the results in a new report. Visit our webpage now to find out what they told us – from their views on careers to their opinions on priority topics – or download the report in full

In January there will be an online panel discussion featuring leaders in education and policymaking.

New video support for teaching core practical skills at 16–18 level

This video series, which also supports absent students and remote learning, is now freely available to all on our education platform and covers topics including rates of reaction, electrochemical cells, preparation of an organic liquid and qualitative tests for organic functional groups.

Each video comes with additional resources and allows learners to apply theory, practise recording results, analyse data and more.

‘In my classroom’ – show us your teaching space

In this new series of articles from Education in Chemistry, chemistry teachers from across the UK and Ireland are welcoming us into their teaching spaces to share their classroom experiences, inspiration and advice.

If you enjoy seeing inside other teaching spaces, perhaps you could share your space too, and inspire other teachers in the same way? If you would like your teaching space to be featured in EiC, online and in print, we'd love to hear from you.

Putting sustainability into context for primary science

Our new topic webs will help you make links between sustainability and science topics such as habitats, electricity and materials.

Young people care a lot about sustainability, but 91% of primary educators think the primary science curriculum currently has too little content in that area. These webs will help you grab their attention with suggested activities and demonstrate how scientists are tackling global threats.
