What are key digital skills for chemistry – and are they being taught?
The RSC is conducting research on the skills and knowledge that will be in demand for a future chemistry workforce, and we need your help. We would like to speak to chemistry educators, and your colleagues from computer science/IT, about digital skills in the chemistry curriculum:
- Which digital skills are currently being developed in schools
- What you regard as key digital skills, both broadly and specifically to chemistry
- Whether you want to see more digital skills incorporated into the curriculum, and what the barriers to doing so are
We will speak to you online at a time that suits you. As a thank you, we will be offering each participant a £20 voucher. Data will be anonymised so that you and your school will not be identifiable.

We’ve updated our criteria for degree accreditation
RSC accreditation is awarded to courses that provide the knowledge, skills and competence for a successful chemistry career. It’s a mark of high quality, verified and certified by an independent panel – and it makes it easy for you to recommend degree courses to your students, or point them in the right direction if they’re choosing their path in academia.

Local chemistry employers, mapped out for you and your students
Our employers map simplifies the process of finding work experience opportunities, and helps you to meet Gatsby Benchmark 6 by ensuring your students have two first-hand experiences of a workplace by age 18.
Use the map with your learners to see employers and science parks in your area, explore the work that real chemists are doing nearby, and add local inspiration to lessons and homework.
Join a focus group to help RSC Education
Are you an educator at any level of secondary teaching? You’re invited to be part of a focus group to help RSC Education with its publishing.
Focus groups will be set up for the last two weeks of July. It’s a great opportunity for you to help us to improve what we offer, and share your opinion on upcoming changes.
