Welcome to your June update. This month find out how to support learners with ready-to-use structure strips, explore new perspectives with our Leadership mentoring programme, boost your confidence with practicals and don’t miss your last chance to recognise brilliant teaching practice with an RSC Education prize nomination.
Ready-to-use structure strips
We’ve been adding to our collection of ready-to-use structure strip resources for chemistry – available for 11–14 and 14–16 years. With these recourses, you can:
- help learners deepen their understanding of key chemistry topics while boosting literacy skills with writing practice
- get scaffolded prompts to build confidence and encourage learners to work independently
- see example answers and an extension question for every topic
- be versatile – use these for revision, end-of-topic, introducing a topic, cover lessons or homework
RSC Education prizes – final call
Do you know someone making a real difference in chemistry education?
A nomination for an RSC Education prize highlights excellent practice and helps share inspiring work across the community and there’s still time to nominate. RSC Education prizes recognise individuals, early career teachers, initiatives and teams. Who will you recognise?
Submit your nomination by 23 June.
Take part in the Leadership mentoring programme
Build confidence in your leadership and tackle real challenges with support from an experienced mentor in industry.
We’re inviting science teachers in leadership roles to take part as mentees, paired with an RSC member working in industry. Develop new perspectives, strengthen your leadership skills and apply practical ideas in your own school.
The programme runs from November to July, with flexible monthly online meetings.
