Damian Benney

Damian Benney is a deputy headteacher and science teacher at Penyrheol Comprehensive School in Swansea. He has been teaching for 19 years, six in his current role. He is responsible for curriculum, staffing and developing teaching. In recent years his focus has been on integrating findings from educational research and cognitive science into the classrooms at Penyrheol. He writes a blog on his experiences as a teacher and as a senior leader.

He is always trying to be a better teacher and is constantly refining his use of feedback in the classroom as well as embedding elements such as spacing and retrieval practice, which are at the heart of the coordinated revision package that is put together for all students at Penyrheol.Â
