Jane MacGruer

Jane is head of science at Sandymoor Ormiston Academy, UK.

After graduating with a BEng (Hons) in mechanical engineering, Jane spent the first half of her career working in a variety of industries as a continuous improvement engineer. She retrained as a teacher in 2018 as a late 40th birthday present to herself.

Jane is fascinated by how pedagogy translates to practice and what it looks like in the classroom. She writes an occasional blog about this at Pedagogy Magpie | A science teacher's notes from a small classroom and is a firm believer in sharing good ideas so we can magpie the shiny bits of each other’s practice.
