Nicola Kiernan
Nicola started her career working in industry as an analytical chemist, with additional experience in materials engineering research and development, a PhD and academic research in chemical physics.
She retrained, teaching secondary school chemistry, physics and mathematics in Edinburgh for eight years before moving to her current role as head of chemistry and STEM coordinator at the High School of Dundee.
She blends her teaching with part-time research in digital STEM education at The University of Edinburgh. Nicola’s research interests lie in how to support and capture visuospatial conceptual understanding in scientific disciplines and the potential of AI-powered education tools.
