This module asks teams of students to identify the route to market, and produce a ‘project plan’, for a number of potential projects with a chemical background. This resource contains a Tutor Guide and Student Presentation necessary to run the Project Management module, along with the paper “Great Mistakes in Technology Commercialisation”.

It is a good idea, but not essential, that students have already completed the module on Innovation, where the projects are introduced.
Learning outcomes: Students should learn about the processes (Stage Gate, PRINCE2) that companies use for managing technology projects. They should understand the different types of Project Flow chart (e.g. PERT and Gantt Charts). They should know what is meant by task, milestone, and stage-end/review point. They should understand some of the issues around building successful teams.
