Shaun Allison

Shaun Allison is head of school improvement at Durrington Multi-Academy Trust. He is also the director of the Durrington Research School – one of only 22 Research Schools in the country. With over 20 years’ experience working at coastal comprehensives, Shaun understands the challenges faced by these schools and how to overcome these challenges. His leadership role is centred around supporting teachers and leaders to develop an evidence informed approach to classroom practice, through purposeful and personalised professional learning – so that they can focus on their core purpose. He also writes the successful Classteaching blog and is an author. His most recent books, Perfect teacher led CPD and Making every lesson count (co-authored with Andy Tharby), have both been hugely successful.

Shaun is a popular speaker at national conferences and has worked with a number of organisations on a variety of projects, including the DfE. This has involved using an assessment innovation grant to develop a method of ‘assessment without levels’ in Key Stage 3 and, more recently, working as a part of their workload solutions consultation.
