Help to inspire change in the education sector

Take the Great Science Teaching Survey

We are inviting all science teachers, heads of department and technicians in secondary schools in the UK and Ireland to take part in a major survey. The findings will provide robust and detailed evidence that will help us better support and represent educators, and influence curriculum and policy change. The survey closes on 8 April 2022, so please take this opportunity to make your voice heard.

Each person who takes part in the survey can choose to be entered into a prize draw to win £100.

Whether it’s to get equipment, take students on a visit, run a science club or do some extra CPD, there’s not always enough cash around to fund everything you want to achieve. There are lots of organisations offering financial help but it can be tricky to sort through them all. Our grants and funding article is your first stop.

The page is full of ideas for funding opportunities. It’s organised by category for easy browsing, and there’s a whole section for primary teachers.

How has Covid-19 impacted your practical teaching?

A-level science teachers and exam board monitors are invited to contribute to a research project on the pandemic’s impact on the direct assessment of A-level practical science skills. Take the chance to contribute by answering questions on the practical work you’ve delivered or observed, and share your opinions about any impact on fairness.

The survey closes 14 April, and is being conducted by Sarah Old (senior manager, Standards, Ofqual) as part of an MSc in Educational Assessment at Oxford University.
