The RSC Education team will be at ASE Annual Conference 2023

Come along to our tailored support sessions on 6 January

Supporting excellence in science teaching is a guiding principle for the Royal Society of Chemistry education team, so we’re delighted to again be taking part in the ASE’s annual conference, Europe's largest festival of science education (5–7 January).

As part of the conference, we’ll be delivering two interactive support sessions on 6 January: Sustainability in the chemistry classroom (9.30–10.25am) and Supporting your development as an early career teacher (2.00–2.55pm).

Try these festive activities to wrap up the term

Engage your students with these seasonal suggestions

Teaching 11–14 students and need some engaging activities? Get started with a crafty bonding activity making festive molecular baubles. Students will learn about atoms, elements and molecules. Then, pack some sugar and skills into another lesson by making Hanukkah donuts in your lab using integrated instructions – it’s a given that the results will be both popular and memorable. And if you teach 14–16 students, add some sparkle to your classroom by electroplating a copper coin with zinc to make some microscale ‘gold’ coins.
