Live sessions to support your teaching this term

A look at what’s coming up

Our teacher support programme offers 60-minute sessions to fit into your afternoon from 4–5pm. Delivered by your education coordinators, the sessions will support you with new ideas and resources for teaching. Join us for one or all of our upcoming opportunities, including sessions on teaching microscale (with Bob Worley), chemistry for a sustainable world (with Professor Tom Welton) and key takeaways from the 2022 chemistry exams for GCSE level/post-16.

Sign up to be inspired

The new science teachers series, put together in collaboration with our colleagues at the ASE, CLEAPSS and the IOP, kicks off on 19 October. Take part in a fully funded series of support sessions for trainee, student and early career science teachers. Across four interactive and highly informative sessions, the series gives new teachers the opportunity to engage with the support offered by leading science organisations.

Clear up misconceptions and add real-world context at 14–16

Two article series for you to explore

Our new 14–16 how-to CPD series aims to support you in delivering lessons on key topics, such as covalent bonding (orbital overlap), metallic bonding (conduction bands), polymers (transition temperatures) and much more. Similar to articles already published on topics for 11–14 and post-16 students, these articles address common misconceptions and bring you teaching tips, ideas and learning objectives.

We have also refreshed our established Science research news series. This series will boost your CPD knowledge and pack your curriculum with the latest relevant real-world context, using newly-published science research from Chemistry World. The stories come with a downloadable summary slide and questions for students – and you can now easily access and download detailed stories online, not just in print.

Show your students how they could make a difference

Inspiring chemistry career profiles

Case studies are a brilliant way to show students how they can apply what they learn to the real world. As part of our Chemistry: Making the Difference campaign we’ve produced a new collection of case studies promoting the vast range of different career paths that open up to students who choose to study chemistry.

Inspire your students and get them thinking about where chemistry could take them in their future – as well as the difference they could make to the world.

RSC accreditation means you can recommend courses with confidence

A Royal Society of Chemistry accredited chemistry degree is a mark of assurance that it meets specific standards used by the profession. It provides individuals with the knowledge, skills and competence required to progress their chemistry career. RSC-accredited degree courses also fully fulfil the academic requirements for Chartered Chemist, which may be important to pupils later in their careers.

Our website shows you the whole world of RSC-accredited options, so you can help your students go on to take the best next steps possible.
