Emily Perry

Emily Perry is deputy head of the Centre for Development and Research in Education, and head of the Funded Knowledge Exchange for the Sheffield Institute of Education. She develops, delivers and evaluates projects focussed on science education and teacher development.

She is also module leader for Comparative Studies of Professional Practice, part of the MA Education programme. She supervises postgraduate research students and carries out her own research into professional development, with a particular focus on science teachers.

Emily leads the Sheffield Institute of Education’s Research-Engaged Practice Network and the Practice, Innovation and Professional Learning research group. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, sits on the Universities Council for the Education of Teachers' CPD committee and is a member of the International Professional Development Association's England Committee.

Her background is as a chemistry teacher, working in secondary schools in the UK, Brazil and Hong Kong. She sits on the board of trustees of a local multi-academy trust and is a secondary school governor.
