Jacqueline Hanmer

Jacqueline is an experienced secondary school science teacher with 25 years spent in the classroom. Over this time, she has worked as head of year, teacher responsible for KS5 science and head of chemistry. Jacqueline retired from classroom teaching in 2021 and currently works as a PP tutor and as an online tutor helping to train the next generation of chemistry teachers.

Jacqueline has a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry and was Culpepper Fellow at the National Gallery of Art Washington DC, where she worked on the aging of natural yellow dyes. She continues her interest in museum education by working as a learning session leader in Leicester, delivering a range of sessions to primary and secondary pupils.

Jacqueline is interested in the stories behind the science and in removing barriers to engagement with science. Outside of work, Jacqueline is an ‘obsessed’ runner and you can find her running and racing on road, trail and track.
