This is a very useful read.

Teachers, but not always students, will appreciate the point that natural products are not necessarily safer than synthetic ones. Nature offers a diverse range of toxins!

One well-known manufacturer of shampoo and the like advertises its products by claiming that over 90% of the product is 'of natural origin' - leading me to wonder what could possibly be included in a shampoo which is NOT of natural origin?

Digging around, I found out what they define as 'of natural origin' (https://science-education-research.com/of-mostly-natural-origin/), but the term is intriguing to the scientifically literate. I guess, more pertinently, the manufacturer feels that most consumers will accept a small amount of a product to be of something other than natural origin.
