Not true. I am after!
1) many many ancient cultures knew fire! And the properties it possessed !

For example, Ancient Indians know how to describe fire (they called it ‘Agni’, a word in Sanskrit), in various forms that exists even today!
While several others too knew a lot about fire, including Mayans, not all with same level as sophistication and understanding as Indians or eastern cultures:

In short, it is better just for the sake of learning to understand what / how fire was known, so our research can be better aided!
