On This Day – Jul 23 : Vladimir Prelog was born

He was the first person to synthesize the unusually symmetrical hydrocarbon adamantane, whose derivatives are routinely used for medical applications. He shared the 1975 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for “his research into stereochemistry of organic molecules and reactions”.
