I studied for a BSc in chemistry at the University of Liverpool and went on to achieve a MSc. I decided to continue my studies and later attained a PhD in inorganic chemistry. I worked as a post-soctoral scientist in malaria research with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine for some time, where I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to teach. I decided that education is what I wanted to do, so I applied for a PGCE and was offered a job a Neston High School, where I have been teaching for 6 years. I am passionate about inspiring young people to choose a career in STEM. I grew up in Burnley but have lived Liverpool for the past 18 years. I currently live in South Liverpool with my wife and child.
