John Carroll

John Carroll

John is a senior lecturer in chemistry education at Nottingham Trent University.

John worked as a research chemist before deciding to take a leap of faith and change career. He retrained as a teacher and spent ten years in three different secondary schools, as a chemistry teacher and head of department. He has been an examiner and advisor to a UK exam board, and has contributed to the development of the revised A-level chemistry specification.

In September 2012 John moved to Nottingham Trent University as a senior lecturer in chemistry education, and more recently PGCE/PGDE course leader. He has been a member of the Education in Chemistry editorial board since 2011 and is chair of the RSC’s chemistry subject knowledge enhancement working group.
