Additional information
Dr Ray Leslie of Nottingham Trent University (NTU) made contact with AstraZeneca to enhance the NTU Advanced Medicinal Chemistry course. AstraZeneca and NTU worked in collaboration to develop course material for final year students directly relevant to the pharmaceutical industry, giving real-life examples of drug discovery and providing rich information on the drug discovery process through an industrial context. Furthermore, students experienced contact with practicing industrialists as the course was delivered to Nottingham Trent students by medicinal chemists from AstraZeneca. This 10-lecture series is self-explanatory, including notes for lecturers. It can be used to enhance current medicinal chemistry or drug discovery courses taught in HEIs or to inspire new courses.
