Samia El-Ali

Samia is head of science at More House School and an assessment associate and CPAC monitor for Pearson.

She has been teaching for over 25 years, with experiences from nursery through to KS5. Samia has a keen interest in transition work across key stages as well as curriculum design and assessment. She has held a range of roles in areas of chemistry education which interest her, including mentoring students of Black and African Heritage (BAH) and providing pathways for them to pursue careers in STEM. Samia joined the teaching profession because she wanted to make a difference and her passion for teaching has not diminished.

As an active member, and chartered chemist, of the RSC she is driven by her commitment to provide excellent education in chemistry. She designs challenging, enriching and innovative activities to address students' diverse interests and needs. Samia believes that every pupil has the potential to excel in education if their individual needs are met and thinks that classroom teaching is not sufficient to encourage students to pursue a particular career. Enriching their curriculum with extracurricular activities has a huge impact on their direction. She also believes practical work is essential in making chemistry education relevant and supports the delivery of high-quality practical work at KS5 as a Pearson CPAC monitor.
