Video resources featuring core practicals to support remote teaching, flipped learning and live practical work
Royal Society of Chemistry videos available for the following topics:
- Conservation of mass
- Electrolysis of aqueous solutions
- Halogen displacement reactions
- Reactivity series of metals
- Identifying ions
- Preparing a soluble salt
There are a number of practical experiments that are required by GCSE courses in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and for the Leaving Certificate in the Republic of Ireland. In Scotland, although not mandatory, these practical skills are embedded into the specification at National 5. Some practicals are common across all exam boards. We have collated video resources to support the remote teaching of some of these practical topics.
Alongside the videos you will find additional teaching points, suggested questions and links to related resources to help integrate these videos into lessons and the wider curriculum. Practical videos will be of benefit to students who are revising content they have already covered in school, as a flipped learning tool before live practical work or as an aid to remote teaching.
We have also collated videos for 16-18 student practical activities.
