Put a card down, flip it and reverse it
The downloadable pdf below contains a set of chemical description cards.
Have the cards cut up and ready to use before the lesson.
You could laminate the cards to make them last longer.
Place the cards face down in a pile.
Students take it in turns to take a card and try to describe the word at the top to the rest of the group.
They may not use the words listed as ‘Taboo’, the word itself or any words derived from it.
For example, to describe polymerisation they may not use the word ‘polymer’.
This game can be played either as a whole class or in groups.
The person who correctly identifies the word being described keeps the card and is the next to have a turn.
If the game is played in groups, the winner is the student with the most cards at the end of the game.
